Charlie Unwin

Charlie's passion for human performance has been uniquely shaped by a varied career. A former army officer, Charlie served for six years with the Royal Horse Artillery including a tour of Iraq as a platoon commander. A passionate sportsman, Charlie was later seconded to the Team GB Performance Centre for Modern Pentathlon. He represented Team GB at the World Championships in 2005. It was during his time as an athlete that Charlie's passion for applied psychology flourished, believing this to be a fundamental contributor towards his achievements, not talent!
Whilst gaining a further MSc in Sport Psychology at Brunel University, Charlie won a national postgraduate award for his applied research into Performance Mindset.
With a deep understanding of the individual differences that make us all unique in how we define and achieve success Charlie has since worked with elite athletes and top flight teams in rugby and football. Notably, Charlie is the mental performance coach for double Olympic Champion Lizzy Yarnold, working together for seven years.
Recently, Charlie was appointed as a Coach Mentor for the football Premier League, working with their Heads of Coaching.
Keen to collaborate across all performance environments, Charlie also works with global business and elite military forces. Here he shares his insights into human performance with senior teams and executives. Charlie has designed and delivered performance programmes for a number of global companies including Coca-Cola, Sainsbury’s, Virgin and Dyson. In 2014 he was Top Speaker at the Henley Business School Partnership.
