Our first Coaching Hub Meet Up!
After a brilliant post-awards party involving a bit too much 'helium - karaoke' (!!), we were up bright and early to set up for our first Coaching Hub meet-up day. These bi-annual workshop days are designed to bring our Coaching Hub community together, provide an opportunity to share expertise and also have a great time learning new things.
We had 36 Centre10 accredited coaches attend from all areas of the UK, and were thrilled by the energy and enthusiasm in the room. We were delighted when several coaches volunteered to present practical exercises and tools they have found useful to small groups.
- Growth mindset in youth riders,
- The importance of good quality contracting
- The effectiveness of visualisation
- Developing athlete identity
- Tools to work with nervous riders
Charlie and I took a back-seat and were delighted with the quality of the presentations - it turns out our coaches are an attentive bunch!
The afternoon kicked off with a brilliant presentation by coach Hugh Train. He talked in depth about the importance of effective breathing - both in the saddle and out, drawing on his fascinating experience as both a coach, actor and yoga enthusiast. It was excellent stuff and stimulated a great discussion.
We then moved on to work with some guinea-pig riders in the saddle, to demonstrate how these skills can be used in a practical scenario. A big thank you to Zoe and Jess as well as their horses Angelica and Sketch for being excellent guinea-pigs!
We were thrilled how the two days went, and we are already looking forward to our next event in September. The summer is looking to be a busy one, as we work more closely with the coaches within our Coaching Hub community, as well as developing some new products, workshops and events for this year and beyond!
