Building Adaptable Mindsets
17 May (morning format) OR 18 &19 May (evening format)
Facilitator: Steffi Dampney
Have you ever noticed that you seem to click with some people easier than others? When the pressure is on, have you ever noticed that some people respond similarly to yourself, whereas others react differently?
Perhaps you seem to connect with other riders or coaches who are particularly focused on achieving the outcome? Maybe you tend to relate to those people who are able to step out of a situation and make a decision objectively?
Feel a bit stuck and wonder why you can’t be your best unless you’re working with exactly the right person at exactly the right time?
Well stop right there - this is completely solvable! And it’s simpler than you think.
You just need to unlock the power of switching your thinking to suit different performance preferences. 99 times out of a hundred, this feeling of ‘mis-match’ is purely down to fundamental differences in personality.
People ‘see’ the same things, differently. They ‘say’ the same things, differently. They ‘feel; the same things, differently. All of which means, you might need to use different approaches to learn, or coach, the same skills. And the good news is, there are some really simple steps you can take to recognise what’s needed and adapt in the moment to working easily and effectively with the whole range of different personalities.
It’s one of the true markers of high-performing, successful and in-demand riders and coaches - to be able to adapt to bring out the absolute best in every situation.
“It’s not where you are, it’s where you can get to”
This session will enable you to understand your own mindset and behaviours, helping you recognise the contexts where you might need to FLEX your behaviours and use a different mindset to COPE. You’ll leave the session with tools and strategies you can use for your very next coaching session or competition, to get the best our of both horse and rider.
