I have trained both horse and rider for over 40 years whilst enjoying my own sucessful competition journey in Show jumping, Dressage and Eventing and I can personally vouch how sports psychology has positively transformed my approach to both my coaching and my own riding.

I would like to use my knowledge to help you overcome rider anxiety, obstacles in health, addiction & menopausal issues that may negatively impact your riding experience. From struggling with anxiety tacking up to preparing for major competitions I can help you deal with those nerves.

Combined with sports psychology, I coach clients following classical principles riding by feel not force. I take a holistic approach and believe that horse welfare is paramount to a sucessful willing partnership.

Please take that first step and get in touch to discuss how I can help you achieve your goals no matter how small or how big they might be. I offer one to one in person or via zoom.

I enjoy using my large Center10 tool kit to work with riders’ mindsets, identifying the processes to success. Alongside this I was selected for and completed the National Development of Coaching Excellence programme through the BEF. I take a positive, holistic approach to coaching, and believe in the journey we take with each horse is the most important and rewarding part. I thoroughly enjoy becoming a part of the team with each horse and rider I work with.  I have ridden up to 2* on my own horses, along with part owning Cossan Lad who competed at ten 5* events. I am currently concentrating on competing one of horse, Olive and coaching full time as well as breeding youngsters.

I very much believe that mental or psychological skills can be taught and improved at any level and I aim to help riders to achieve these new skills which can then help their performance or the simple enjoyment of their horse. Riders who invest in this work can become more confident, have clearer aims or goals and learn to be better communicators with their very important and much loved teammate. At the same time we are also improving equine welfare by mastering how to give clear instructions and by sticking to the plan in challenging situations. I provide off the horse coaching whether riders are competing or not and I am very happy to work with a group of riders if preferred at the start of your psychological skills journey.

I’m a modern coach originally from Germany with over 30 years of experience and constant professional development. I choose the democratic, student centred approach to teaching and firmly believe that learning can only happen in a positive atmosphere, which doesn’t mean that there won’t be phases of stronger guidance. As it is the nature of our sport a quick, loud ‘get on with it’ sometimes works miracles.
I’m looking forward to working with you!

For the last 30 years I have been producing and competing event horses on behalf of owners and clients alongside my teaching. As well as treating every horse as if it were my own I enjoyed sharing with the owner (often the breeder too) in a fun and inclusive way, the development and journey of their horses. In recent years I have been focusing on coaching and mentoring riders with an emphasis on biomechanics and communication of horse and rider both competitive and non competitive.

I have been lucky enough to have had access to some top class training both in dressage and jumping, including being a member of Training the Teachers of Tomorrow for 23 years riding on both the jumping clinics and International dressage clinics. Continuing my professional development is a key part of my working week. In 2018 I put myself forward for the British SJ UKCC and the course designer assessment and in 2019 the Professional Accredited Coach Stage 4 senior coach, passing all 3. This year, 2022, I have successfully gained The Centre 10 Applied psychology for Equestrian Coaches.

Developing a confident and harmonious horse and rider partnership to train and perform at their best is always at the forefront of every session. I am empathetic, a good communicator and as a rider myself, competing at PSG, understand the pressures and challenges often presented in the competition arena. I hugely enjoy working with Young Riders at all levels and stages of their riding development, offering mentoring and support to help them become confident and technically skilled at the level they want to compete at. I like to offer practical parental support too, where I can draw on my experience and knowledge as a mother to a successful dressage rider. Dressage Coaching for all levels and disciplines. Based in South Oxfordshire, I am a freelance dressage trainer covering all levels from Prelim up to Small Tour and including eventers. I also work closely with a small number of showjumpers to improve their flat work. I travel across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire visiting yards. Alternatively clients can visit me on the yard where I am based, near Thame. Facilities include indoor and outdoor schools with mirrors. I am available for clinics. My strength is approaching each horse/rider combination as the individuals that they are.

With 35 years teaching experience, Sarah specialises in working with the rider's mental toolbox and mindset as opposed to just the physical. Sarah is a BHS Level 3 (Dressage) APC, UKCC Level 2, Ride Safe Trainer and an Accredited Centre 10 Advanced Coach. She is also a Level 4 Hypnotherapist, giving her riders a greater awareness of how the mind is able to enhance the workings of the body which can greatly enhance their bond with their horse. Sarah is passionate about getting the foundations correct and her focus on position, grounding, breath, core engagement and body awareness sets her apart from more traditional coaches. In addition, Sarah is also a qualified ESMT and a worldwide Animal Communicator, giving her more tools in her box to work with the horse holistically. Although dressage and flatwork focused, Sarah also works with the horse/rider combination from the floor and has a vast experience of both Agility and Liberty work (currently competing herself to a high level). Sarah's goal as a coach and a mentor, is to help her client's achieve theirs. She helps her client's see their obstacles as tools to further learning, recognise and dispel negative thought patterns and find the fun in their discipline. Her enthusiasm and compassion for enhancing their bond with their equine is second to none.
